Our two-days experiential tour is designed to give visitors a high quality learning experience on the nature of traditional Quichua healing of the Andes.

Professor Mario Incayawar, a Quichua physician and expert in traditional healing and transcultural psychiatry, will lead the tour.  Professor Incayawar is the former Henry R. Luce Professor in Brain, Mind and Medicine - Cross-Cultural Perspectives at the Claremont Colleges, and the William F. Quillian International Professor at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.  He is currently conducting research funded by the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation on the psychiatric diagnostic skills of yachactaita (Quichua healers).

During the educational tour you will explore (1) the common roots and equivalent efficacy of Quichua healing interventions and Western psychotherapy; (2) the underlying neurobiological mechanism of Quichua healing interventions; and (3) some elements of Quichua herbal medicine.  The tour includes a visit to a local healer, two lectures offered by Professor Incayawar; fieldtrips to an open market of medicinal herbs, along with readings, and class discussions.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity and learn first hand from the world's leading experts on traditional healing and the Quichua people themselves.  You will enjoy learning from a "within" perspective and becoming acquainted with the local Quichua culture, as much as the spectacular mountainous surroundings, lakes and wonderful valleys.

Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance

The tour is limited in size.  Please secure confirmation of registration before purchasing airline tickets, etc.
